Smooth sailing…on blocks of ice?

Blogged in Events, My Life on Thursday October 28, 2004

How does one sail on blocks of ice? Well, I will tell you. One game, broomball. You sail with shoes on, I hope. Broomball deals with ice, not quite blocks, but very similar. Maybe just one large block of ice…with people on it? Maybe…yes! This past tuesday night, a lot of the Shire residents went out to rink in Ontario to play broomball! It was west vs. east, but as it should have been, west should have won. East won only because they needed a lot the west players to play for them because there weren’t enough (and because east wasn’t good enough to beat west!) My back was a little sore after, but that’s okay…we had so much fun! I will hopefully have pictures of the event up later on my gallery, but I haven’t received any yet for it. I didn’t go to work on wednesday because my back was still bothering me because I wouldn’t be able to lift anything. I went to the doctor just to check it out…and apparently I pulled a muscle in my back. Shouldn’t be too long because I’m back up to full strength.

I had a mid-term in philosophy on tuesday and I think that went quite well. I was given the opportunity to spend some more quality time with this special someone in my life. We went out to coffee and then went around on the town last night (Wednesday), just hanging out. The good times just don’t seem to stop coming…yay for good times! Tonight I am running sound in the student union (Cougar Dome) for 3 different bands. The only band I know of right now specifically, is Tyrone Wells. They will be 3 different acoustic type bands, so it should be a great performance. We’ll see how well I run sound for it though…hopefully I’ll do my best. Concert goes from about 8-10 I believe. I’m there from 7-11, so come around anytime to say hi!

Tomorrow being friday…the weekend will finally be here. I have an accounting test and I feel very prepared for it. I’ll start and finish my history paper due monday as well so I can have a free weekend. I’ll most likely attend CCV on sunday so I can get some more training in for the sound board. This week went quite quickly for me…but that’s good. Time spent with her has been really nice. Well…that’s my update for the day. Have a great end-of-the-week!

Monday, Mid-Terms, and Madness

Blogged in College, My Life on Monday October 25, 2004

Phew. I finally got a second to sit down and type up some of my life here. I have been moving non-stop for the past ummm 72 hours I think. Mid-term tomorrow in philosophy, an accounting test on friday, a paper due in 1 week, 3 papers to write tonight for the philosophy mid-term, and somewhere in there I have to find time to live.

I’m actually going to make this a short post because I’m going to Starbucks or somewhere to study and be quiet. It won’t be too hard to pump these essays out, I just need to sit down and do it. But that’s all for now, maybe I’ll update it later with some new information about me. Have a great week!

Want to run Windows in your next car or SUV?

Blogged in News on Saturday October 23, 2004

Yes people, you heard correctly. Microsoft is making a push to start running Windows in cars and SUVs. Microsoft soft is trying to take the lead in OSes in vehicles and are starting to push the use of their own software in that field. Such an image of one of their models is this, microsoft vehicle, is a good example of what they want to do. Microsoft is now on the leading edge of the technology not only in the home, but on the road as well. Who knows what they will be coming up with next…

To Start Off This Weekend…

Blogged in My Life on Saturday October 23, 2004

To start off this extended weekend, Laura and I spent quite a bit of time together today ( Friday ). We started off the day by watching Zoolander (mmm such a good movie. It made me happy that I was able to spend that time sharing it with Laura for the first time in her life.). We then took a break and I spent about an hour and a half working on some accounting homework because we needed to get some of it done. Our group works well together. After completing our task of accounting, I returned to the module of shire to watch another movie with Laura. We watched The Italian Job and we thoroughly loved watching it again.

After finishing both movies and some homework, it felt like it was time to get out of this place we call the ‘modulars’. Laura, Jessie, and myself, all then went out to Round Table pizza while Aaron and Steve joined us later at dinner. After finishing a nice dinner with the girls and the guys, we then went over to Aaron’s apartment where we watched A Mighty Wind. It was quite an interesting movie and none of us had seen it before. So it was new to all of us. It was a night of growing and stretching for myself I think. Learning how people react to certain things and treat other situations with care and difference. After leaving the movie at Aaron’s place, we drove home to good ole’ APU. Jessie gave us her blessings by driving home for us (she’s a new driver. go new drivers!) After coming home, Laura came over for a little bit to talk. It’s always nice to have these deep talks because it’s so comforting knowing someone else cares to listen to you. I think everyone needs that special someone who will listen with great care and trust.

But all is good and I must be getting to bed here in a couple minutes because I need my beauty rest for the morning. I start work at 9am and don’t finish until around 11pm. So I must get to sleep now so I’m not too tired for the day. God bless and I hope everyone has a spectacular weekend!

One Word: wow.

Blogged in Friends, College, My Life on Tuesday October 19, 2004

Wow describes exactly how this evening went. It was spent in this one mod with this one special young lady. We worked on homework and were given the opportunity to greater our knowledge of each other. Times like these fall under the ‘good times’ category and also fall into the long term memory bank of mine. The blessings of God are seeming to become more and more apparent to myself. He displays his Love in ways that I had never expected, giving me a comfort and peace with my life. Not to go into too much further details, I had a spectacular evening and I hope that they will continue.

My week should be pretty eventful. I have tech training on Tuesday evening, well in a little bit. Chapel Wednesday morning and evening as well, with College Group or a Quality Vinyl concert on Thursday. Friday is our day off of school, so I will be spending it with my special friend. Not exactly sure what we will be doing, but I know it will be something I will remember.

Update 10-20-04: I ended up not going to tech training at CCV because they had other things going on at that time, so I would have been unable to get any training.

My classes are going well right now…I just need to remember to stay focused and buckle down to get the work done. Kind of how I’m finishing my philosophy paper right now for tomorrow hehe. No matter though…I get it done and get the grades I need to succeed. My direction of life feels positive right now and just feels right. Thank you family and friends who have helped mold and shape me to who I am today. Have a great week! God bless.

Current Mood: Brand-Spankin-Tastic

Blogged in My Life on Sunday October 17, 2004

Well, well, well. Life has been changing and growing for me recently. My friendships and relationships have been ever changing. I have recently moved into a dating relationship with Laura. I won’t go into detail because you only need to know those if you talk to me…and well, those are personal anyway! Classes are going well and I’m exicted for another week to start for me.

I am starting to work at CCV ( Christ’s Church of the Valley ) on tuesdays and thursdays. I’m excited to start working there. Along with running sound at CCV, I will still be running sound at APU chapels, 3 days a week. My overall quality of life is just improving with my friendship and relationship with Laura. It just seems like life is falling into place a little bit more now. I feel like I have direction and I feel confident with what I’m doing now.

The day ended with a great time together with Laura. She joined me while I worked on some homework and it helped pass the time quickly. Her presence is always enjoyable to me and it creates a better mood for myself. Laura makes me happy as a person so it gives me great joy to get to know her better. Well, hit me up some time and we can chat! Have a great day.

Blogged in General on Thursday October 14, 2004

I will be working on the site a little bit this weekend and I wanted to know some input from you guys! I’m just wondering what kind of things you would want to see on here to make it more user friendly for yourself. Something that would want to make you come back to my site…besides to hear about me :) But seriously, give me some input please on what you may want to see differently about this site and I will see what I can do. Thanks! You may contact me via AIM or e-mail.

Mid-Week Update

Blogged in College on Wednesday October 13, 2004

This week has progessively gotten better. It started out with a hectic day of Alpha Kappa Psi, work, school, and friends. After resigning from being a pledge with Alpha Kappa Psi because of scheduling and time issues, the week started to feel lighter. I got sick this week with a small cold, so I’ve been slowly working on my homework, but still getting it done. Today, Wednesday, I finished a great day of classes and then had the privilege of spending an afternoon with Laura. We watched Miracle while working on some homework. It was quite an eventful afternoon and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Around 7:15, I then arrived at work and started my night. Arriving back at my mod around 11:30 I started my homework of Philosophy. Here I am posting this and going to bed soon, only so I can wake up a couple hours later for Philosophy class haha.

BBC News: Wife Carrying Contest

Blogged in Humor on Tuesday October 12, 2004

The contest was to see who could carry their ‘wife’ (a woman, 16 years of age or older, not necessarily their wife) to the finish line first. The man would win some money and an equal ammount of beer as the weight of the woman he was carrying.

I saw this news item on KCal and just thought it was too funny that it made it on to the news, so I had to post it on here :)

Ending the Weekend

Blogged in General on Sunday October 10, 2004

Ending the weekend…hmm how do I really do that? Well…it all went like this I guess. I went to church, then went out to lunch with Laura and Aaron. Then we dropped him off at work and drove back to Newsong to pick up the girls. We then continued to Wendy’s, where we had lunch with Laura, David, Aaron, Kyle, Katie, Jessie, and myself. It was some good times people! New friends and lots to talk about. So we finished lunch and then drove back to APU. After getting back, I went to study accounting with a couple people and then off to study for my mid-term with Dave. We studied for a while and then took a break for a little Halo and then I went back home. And that leads up to this point…at where I will be going to bed now to get some rest for my long week. I hope you had a great weekend as I did! –Jon
