Life Savers

Blogged in Friends, My Life on Monday November 29, 2004

Hrmmm how to start this post….so many ways I could. Moments of joy, moments of sorrow, moments of meaning, and moments of glee. How do I express how I truly feel in this post. Well, it’s been a while since I’ve really written something in here that had good contextual meaning. So I’m deciding to write that now.

Life has been awesome really lately. The time spent with Laura has been very meaningful and good. Learning and thoughtful, while still having a good time. But more importantly about Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving was awesome. I know I posted about this already once, but I’m going to give a fuller explanation about it now. Early morning, my mother and father drove out to the Santa Monica area to pick up my great grandparents to bring them out. It was so good to see them because my great Grandpa is now 88 and I love him to death. I’m not sure if he still plays golf every week at 6am, but I hope he does. I got to see my Uncle Joe, Aunt Roxanne, Uncle Jerry, Aunt Shannon, Uncle JJ (YES!!!!), Aunt Liz, grandma (the mean-green-washing-machine), and Apple Jack. Laura, my sister, drove us out to Valencia that day. We got there around 1ish and it was so good to finally arrive. To see all my family, which had seemed like forever ago, was very good. We ate, talked, ate some more (mmm pie), talked, played some games, and some of us watched the football game. It was a great time of bonding and good times.

As again, I got to share my pictures of Laura and talk about her a lot with my family. They all look forward to meeting her, because she’s the important someone in my life right now. Not to discredit all my friends and family…but ya know how it goes. Well, after sharing about her life and where she’s from and all that fun jazz, we ended up leaving around 4:00pm. We took my great grandparents home and then took the CPH (the 1) home along the coast. It was such a beautiful sunset. After getting home, I kind of just chilled all day. Went to bed pretty late.

Friday rolled around and I worked on touching up my History paper basically all day long. It was a very successful day I think, and it felt good to get that accomplished. Friday night I went over to Heather’s house where we had an Oaks Christian Alumni get-together sort of. It was me, Megan, Alex, Heather, Lindsey, Sally, Zak, Nick, and Zak’s friend Shane. It was sooooo much fun. We played games, talked, and just had a blast. Friday ended and Megan took me home along with Alex. Mmmm I love my friends. (in a friendship kind of way).

Saturday morning appeared out of no where…and I hung out in my pjs all day, it was nice. I worked on this web site a little bit in my spare time and just hung out. It was sooo nice to just have a day of doing nothing. But something caught my attention. I saw Marin online and was like, whoa! So I IMed her and she came over later that night, around 9PM. I hadn’t seen Marin in probably at least 6 months. So good to see her too. This past weekend was just full of seeing all my friends and family. Such a good weekend.

Sunday came and passed. I went to church with my mother and came back to pack afterward. But at church, I got to see Kim….MAN!!! Kim seems to be doing well and it was also sooo good to see her. Church was good, good to hear Pastor Brad speaking again. He’s a funny guy…I like Brad. After packing up, my mom drove me over to Alex’s house where her mother drove us back to APU. We stopped by at a museum and that was kind of cool. We got in for free because we were students and they had some pretty sweet art work. I was called the Norton museum of art or something, in Pasadena. But whatever, it was chill. We got back to APU around 2 or 3ish, can’t remember. I hung out for a while and then my brother in law, Matthew, came to pick me up to dive me to the Ontario airport to pick up Laura. Mmmm soo good to see her. Man, this weekend was SOOOO good. Maybe the best weekend this year. Later that night after coming back, we drove back to pick up Kate. So good that she arrived safely. Well, that’s about it for my weekend. Hope I didn’t bore you too much :P

Have a great week!

Target.com

Apparently Target.com is now selling Marijuana to the public. More of the details can be found at this link. http://www.target.com/gp/… I found it to be quite humorous. Let me know if you find this to be funny or not :)

Updated: Target.com took that product off the website. We may all thank Dave for informing me of this, but I was able to find a replacement for the site. The above URL is a screen shot of the page.

Linus to Linux?

Blogged in My Life on Thursday November 25, 2004

Today in my spare time, I decided to build my server here at the house. Ifirst started out the morning by waking up to the smell of orange flavored french toast. After eating breakfast, I finally started the morning and then started the install of Fedora Core 3. After having some issues last night with the discs, I wasn’t able to continue until this morning. I finally got it installed and working properly, but it didn’t have the functionality that I was looking for. So I looked at some other versions of Linux that I could use that would be a ltitle bit more friendly to my liking. I looked at Debian again, which is what I was using before. Now I’m up to the point where I’ve got debian installed and now I just have to tweak it to do what I want. I mainly use this machine as a network monitor for my house so I can monitor all traffic coming in and out to know what’s going on. I try to take care of my network at home from school so my parents still can use it perfectly fine. Well…I’m up to that point where I configure the server now….so I’m off.

Happy Thanksgiving

Blogged in General on Thursday November 25, 2004

I pray that everyone has a safe and memorable Thanksgiving on this fine, November 25th Thursday, 2004. That everyone has a good time with their families and for those who are not with their families, are thinking about what they are thankful for. I know I am thankful for a lot. Too much to list here, but I want to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving.
God bless

Laura, Uncle JJ, and JonathanUpdate: My thanks giving was sooooo good. I got to see a lot of family that I hadn’t seen and it was really good just to be with them. To hang out with my great-grandparents and uncles and aunts, and to play solitaire with them. We love that game. Here’s a picture of my uncle, myself, and my sister Laura.

Image Hosting

Blogged in General on Thursday November 25, 2004

I was thinking about it today…and came up with the idea of gallery hosting. If I put up a gallery for people to host their images on, anyone, would you be interested in putting your images up on my site? The galleries would be based upon each person, so you would have full access to it. The web address would be http://gallery.walkon.us. Please write some comments on this post or e-mail me if you would be interested in doing this, otherwise I won’t. But if anyone is interested, I will do it. Thank you.

foooo shizzzzzzzle

Well, on that note I will start this post. The drawn out phrase actually has a lot more behind it than just a simple, for sure meaning. But anywho. This past weekend was amazing. Laura and I went on a date on Friday and for dinner we went to a chicken and waffle place that was really good. Next we tried to go to a surprise place (turned out to be Jamba) that Laura wouldn’t tell me about, but it turned out they were closed by the time we got there….sad day. We then drove over to the Santa Monica pier (*yay* for my mom’s hometown). We walked on the beach and then we just hung out. Saturday we picked up jamba since we had missed it the night before….and man it was good.

We went back to my house after getting jamba and then we looked at pictures, played some games, and I gave Laura the tour of Thousand Oaks/Westlake/Newbury Park. This was good because she had not seen my home town yet, so now she has. We went to a concert on Saturday night (the band we went for was called Respira). Sunday rolled around and we went to Calvary Community Church in the morning and Laura got to meet a lot of my friends. We went back home and then went out to lunch with my mother. Sunday night we went to Axis and had a great time there. From there we drove home.

Monday came around and I had classes. Classes came, classes went….they were good. I finished the day and then felt good. Today, being Tuesday, I woke up and finished some work for Laura and then I went and was a guest speaker at a middle school for one of my friends that is a teacher. It was great to go see her class and be able to speak in there to share what’s going on in my life. Laura and I spent most of the afternoon running errands such as buying gifts, groceries, getting my “sledge” fixed, and picking up pictures. It has been a very successful day and then I am leaving home to go home tomorrow *YAY*. Life is good right now.

Got Switchfoot?

Blogged in Concerts on Thursday November 18, 2004

I do! My feet last night were groovin’ to the beats of Honerable Mention, The Format, and SWITCHFOOT! Live in concert from the Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA. Last night was the better performance by Switchfoot that I have seen. They were just simply amazing…playing every song I was hoping they would play. My guest, or should say date, for the night, was none other than the beautiful, the wise, Miss Laura. Yes, my lovely girlfriend joined me and we both went to the concert. It was quite a way to hit off the beginning of the middle of the week. Good times on Wednesday night! Well, my rest of the week is booked with homework and a date with Laura. So I’ll hit back soon somtime. Have a great Thursday!

mmm the week/end

Blogged in General on Monday November 15, 2004

Rest? Eye shutting? It’s all really underrated. As some may have heard me say it’s overrated, I am retracting that comment. Sleep is all too important to me now. An update on my life is as follows.

Thursday contained a day of Philosophy and Web Design class and then studying. After finishing my studying and time with Laura, I then left for CCV (Christ’s Church of the Valley) to help run sound. I am starting to get trained more and more to be a sound tech for their college group on Thursday nights.

Friday rolled around. Friday was a pretty relaxed day with a quiz in Math (which I got 10/10 on) and accounting. I continued the day with a brief lunch and then a small work out at the gym. After getting done with classes, lunch, and the gym, 2:30 came about. At 2:30, I left to go to work at Adam’s field for a small family festival. The event was some bouncy things and then a small band. The band was alright and then Laura and Jessie showed up to see what was going on. I finished the event around 6:45 and then I came back then Laura and I watched a movie and hung out.

Saturday showed up wayyyyyyyy too early. I woke up at 5:30am to get ready for AJ to pick me up. I helped AJ setup and run a church outreach program at the Neighborhood Church of Christ. It was called Skate Bash ‘03. There were some incredible bands such as Sune and DRV. They had a demo by a local skate company and had a trick competition. It was a very good event. After finishing the event at 4pm, Laura picked me up and I went back to try to rest for a little bit. 7:00pm was showing on the clock when I rolled over to B2 for a game night. My roommate Andrew showed up which made me happy. It was good for him to come to a game night because I wanted him to be part of our fun. I really don’t ever get to hang out with my roommates, so it was good to be with him. It was a great night and I finally made it back home to my mod around 11:30. My bed was not under me until 1:30am, but that’s okay.

Sunday…mmm…finally. Well, I didn’t get to go to church because I was so tired from the weekend. I need to learn to slow down and not do so much because I need to make it a priority to being faithful. I did some homework and studied for my accounting test later that night and did some errands. I got to talk to my mom and some other friends on Sunday. But wait! It gets better! I got to see Megan!!!!! I hadn’t seen Megan for a little over 2 months and that is far too long. That really made my day a good one. Well, today being Monday…the week has come. This week has a lot in it, such as a Switchfoot concert on Wednesday night (yes, I’m studying and doing my homework), a date with Laura on Friday night (which I don’t know about what we’re doing, but I know it will be fun), and then Laura and I are going home to Thousand Oaks on either Friday night or Saturday night, not sure which. We will get to see Thousand Oaks and some of my friends. Saturday night at 7:00pm we will get to see my friend Mike Russell plays in a concert because he’s playing at a house near me. On Sunday of that weekend, we will get to go Calvary and then Axis. It will be a great week! I’ll update later this week if anything changes and there most likely will be something, so keep checking up. Have a great week!!!

Site Updates

Blogged in General on Thursday November 11, 2004

There have been quite a few updates going on under the hood of this site. Some new features to the site include the games/movies section, the archives, gallery updates, and a lot of backend coding stuff. Some of the coding things you may be interested in are the search features available on the site. You enter the web address www.j0n.org/today … it will search through any post that includes the word today in it. Similarly…if you type in www.j0n.org/group.jpg … it will search my photo gallery for any picture that has the word group included in the description or image name. I’m slowly adding more features everyday to it. I will probably post a ‘Features‘ section the site so I won’t have to post things about it anymore. Slowly but surely you will notice it being a little more user friendly. If you have anything in mind that you think would make this site easier to use, please feel free to contact me about it and I will see if I can work it into the system. Thank you for visiting j0n.org!
