FCC Approves WiFi

Blogged in Geek on Thursday December 16, 2004

The FCC recently approved wireless use on airlines. I’m assuming this will cost a pretty penny, on the airlines part, to change the way of communication and to allow this new interference in the air.

I believe this to be good and bad. Good because a lot more business will be able to get done now via wireless internet and cell phones, but bad because the airline industry is already so far in the hole that they need to focus their money elsewhere so I feel this is a waste of their money right now. What is your opinion?

Ummm…. riiiight… so I just typed in a lonnngggggg comment, and typed in the code correctly (or so I thought), then it got all mad at me! Apparently, your code is case-sensitive. Maybe you should tell people that–or maybe that’s just something I should have known. I like what you’ve done with your site, Jonathan! The comments page — minus that confusing code… heh–is really good! I like the red-background for typing a comment. It makes it stand out a lot. One thing — the top banner “Understanding the Incomplete” is off a little bit. Not noticeable to the average user, perhaps, but it’s shifted to the left a little. Just FYI.
Okay, now to your post: I think wireless in the air would be really rad! Expensive on the part of the customer, though. Would it really put the airlines in that much of a hole?

Haha, I just typed out a LONG one as well, and it did that too. Maybe I’ll change the system I’m using shortly to a different one that doesn’t require you to type in a code. That kind of bugs me that I have to type all this out again! blah…

I do believe that it would cost the airlines a lot to change freqencies because of what they are using right now. I believe that to be the whole reason of why it hasn’t been allowed in the past. It’s about time they change, but I think it may create a security hole if they offer wireless internet. We’ll see what happens.

Hey again Laura, I took out the need to type that code and it uses a different method now. Hope everyone enjoys the new comment system. The way it is designed and how it functions. I will slowly be upgrading the site to a better looking format over the following 2 weeks. Please keep checking in to see the updates! God bless and I hope you have a great Christmas season!
