Life in the fast lane

Blogged in Friends, Events, My Life, Concerts, Travel on Monday February 28, 2005

First off, I just want to start off by saying I just wrote a LONG post and it just got erased. But anyway, I will start the real post.

My life has been REALLY crazy lately. Very crazy. So much going on that I don’t even know what to do. Mid-terms are this week. I had my English mid-term today and my Psychology mid-term tomorrow. So please be praying for me that it goes well (at 2:30pm). After the psych mid-term, I’m going to pick up some tickets to the Jars of Clay concert here at APU, so I am excited for that as well.

My crazyness has been due to school work and getting everything done. I have been getting a lot of my work done early so that I do not have to be stressing about them the day they are due. This is sort of a new idea for me and I am enjoying it a lot. Getting my accounting and Exodus/Deuteronomy done was such a relief. I feel like my weekend was spent getting my homework done, which is okay though. That is the reason I am at school here, right? Anyway, my classes are going well so I’m happy about that.

In my web life, well that is a different story altogether. Recently a High School teacher called me up and asked for my help in a business venture that she wants to start up online. So I am adding this to my plate in the next coming months. Along side of that, I recently was e-mailed by a small local APU band here, to do their site. I’m gladly going to accept it if they choose to use me. But to top it off, I’m still working on the COBS site. My load for COBS was taken off a little bit by a gentlemen in Singapore and he is helping me with the content management system that we will be using, that is good news to me. This is one of the reasons that I have not had time to post on here at all, I’ve just been so busy.

In the mist of all this, I am supposed to live. I am supposed to go to classes and still be able to stay healthy. I feel that I have been sick for the past couple of weeks, so I’m going to try to cool down a little bit. Also, GREAT news about my sister. I’M GOING TO BE AN UNCLE!!! I am sooooo excited for her. I have been dreaming of the day that I could one day make the same impact my uncles had on my life, to my future nephews/nieces.

And finally to top off this post, I am prepping for my trip to Egypt and Spain. We will get to visit an organization called Open Doors of Brother Andrews and see some old friends that I met while visiting Holland. I am VERY excited for this trip and look forward to it with much excitement in mind. I will try to keep a daily log of what we do and post it on here when I get back, but we’ll see how possible that will be. I will definitely be taking A LOT of pictures though, so prepare for some pictures when I get back!

I pray everyone is doing well. Sorry if I haven’t had much time to talk to anyone or stay in contact, but as you read, my life has been busy.

Soccer and other updates

Blogged in College, My Life, Sports on Wednesday February 23, 2005

Another soccer report….well, sort of. This week we had a bye for soccer…and it was raining. We wouldn’t have played anyway, even if we had a game, so it was good we didn’t. Bummer for the rest of the teams though. This week has been really rainy overall and a lot of other things going on.

Another school update is that Spring Thing is happening next weekend, so people are excited about it. They recently dropped the price to the dance to $40. I think people will have fun going to it.

Umm I don’t think there are any other updates. Oh wait, chapel was umm interesting thing morning. They just let us go, as their ‘Creative Arts’ chapel. Classes are going well and I like them. That’s about it I guess…not much else going on in my life. Well, I guess there is one more great thing. I love hanging out with my girlfriend and spending quality time with her. We’ve only been together a little over 3 months, but it’s been a growing and stretching 3 months for me at least. It’s been good and I look forward to hopefully spending more time with her. God truly never stops working in amazing ways with each person’s life.

Lonely Tiger

Blogged in News on Wednesday February 23, 2005

Recently in Thousand Oaks/Moorpark, there was a tiger that was just walking around. It was around a house and then made its way into the forest-type area. It was a 400-600lb tiger and Game Wardens had to be called in to shoot the tiger because they could not tranqualize it. You can read more at DailyNews.com.

I feel bad for the kitty, but that’s okay, I think he’ll be better off with the other kitties in kitty heaven. It was cool to watch on TV when the news came and then read up on it later, but that’s life. No one was exactly sure how it made it into the city or where it came from…but well…it was there.

Update: To those interested, I started up a side site as well. www.whoismyhost.com (something similar to whatismyip.com, but better) I’m just going to hold on to this domain for a couple years and see if anything comes of it. Help support it and check it out if you want to.

Hail Storm

Blogged in News on Monday February 21, 2005

In the recent weather news, there is a hail storm moving into the Azusa area in California. We are expecting nickel-sized hail coming in from the Pasadena area that originally came from Los Angeles, I believe. We are currently experiencing massive rain, thunder, and lightening storms right now and we are expecting for this to continue until Wednesday.

Update: Rolling thunder, lightning, flooding

If you like rain storms, come over to APU then and enjoy them :) (Link to weather news)

Gallery 2 - Alpha 4

Blogged in Photos on Saturday February 19, 2005

[Modified Post] I created an alpha gallery which is taking on the new look of the site. This gallery is the alpha of what is soon to be released as a beta. Gallery has been working hard for the past few years on producing this product and it is finally coming alive. I have it up at Alpha. They are looking into using my theme possible, but I doubt it will make it into their script. The alpha has been almost completely ported over to my blog design, but could use some more work still. Keep using my normal gallery for the time being though. I’ll eventually switch over to the alpha, but not yet.

It’s a really cool new gallery and I’ll probably make all my custom design modifications there. Check it out sometime :) (Gallery2 Official Post)

Update on 03/29/05: I changed it around and moved my gallery.bleakgeek.com to photos.bleakgeek.com where I will have all my pictures from now on.

Music Meme

Blogged in General, My Life on Wednesday February 16, 2005

1. How many music files are there on your computer?
Well, I live on campus at a university. Well, with that campus network, a lot of peopel use iTunes. So I have about 3924 songs. BUT, please keep in mind that I own over 60 cds so a lot of those songs are ones I bought legally.

2. Last CD you bought?
I would have to say it was the Passion of the Christ: Inspired by songs album that I bought off ebay. Well, maybe it was Shaun Groves, but does that count before it was for my girlfriend and not myself? Well, either way, those are the last 2 cds I bought.

3. What is the song you last listened to before reading this message?
Oh man, I guess the last one I heard was in chapel and it was Switchfoot - I Dare You to Move. Good song and I LOVE them live. I would have to say they are the best band I’ve ever seen live.

4. Five songs you often listen to or which mean a lot to you?
Downhere - Calmer of the Storm
Switchfoot - Twenty Four
Relient K - My girl’s ex-boyfriend
Big Dismal - Too Pretty
Casting Crowns - Who am I

These songs have a lot of meaning to me and have affected my life greatly I think. You should check them out and their lyrics. Pretty powerful I think.

5. Who are you going to pass this on to and why?
Ummmm I may try to give it to Beccary or Bryan. We’ll see. I’ll pass it on to them because they are cool peeps and I think they would enjoy this.

Soccer: Game 3

Blogged in Sports on Wednesday February 16, 2005

We had another soccer game yesterday, at 8pm. It was a fun game. Their team was at the same level of playing as we were. And well, this clearly was shown in the game. We both scored one goal. I scored our one goal on an indirect kick that was caused by a hand-ball. I felt like we had a good time and it was fun playing out there. Good job team Dark Wing Ducks! (That’s our name, just fyi)
