Female Rap Artists

Blogged in General on Wednesday March 30, 2005

Carthik makes a good point…why aren’t there any female rap artists?
I only see male rap artists out there and that no females are very obvious as an artist. Not sure, but it’s obviously not just me.

There are a number of somewhat famous female rap artists that come to mind; Jadakiss, Trina, Foxy Brown, Da Brat, Missy Eliott, Eve, Lil’ Kim… A lot of them do cross-over into Hip-hop (maybe the same genre?) and R&B, so their names might blend in a bit more than some of the districtive male rappers like Eminem, Jay-Z, etc.

And who could forget about Queen Latifah? ;-)

True, true. I guess maybe I only need male rap artists as main-stream music. A lot more of the female music artists I see them as pop artists. But a very valid point.
