Napster vs. iTunes

Blogged in Geek on Thursday March 17, 2005

I found this article written a couple weeks ago that seems like a good comparrison between the two companies (Napster and Apple). It simple compares the pros and the cons between the Napster music system and the iTunes/iPod music system. It’s definitely worth taking a look at if you’re interested in starting to use either network.

Dice Quiz

Blogged in My Life on Thursday March 17, 2005

I am a d10

Take the quiz at dicepool.com

Ah, the d10! While you aren’t actually a true regular polyhedron, you are the only die that makes logical sense–metrically speaking. Chances are, others see you as over-analytical or a goody-goody. While that may be true, you also have a gift for patience and tolerance. Growing up you probably had a calculator wristwatch that you never really needed to use (since you were faster on your own), and you probably aced all your classes (except for gym). You use the metric system almost exclusively, but are able to quickly convert in mid-conversation for the sake of your backwards Imperalist friends. You’ve coded in at least two different programming languages, and have created more original gaming systems than you’ll ever admit. You’re generally not a show-off, but you do take pride in being called either a geek or a nerd.

Soccer Winding Down

Blogged in General, My Life, Travel, Sports on Wednesday March 9, 2005

Hey Folks. It seems like soccer is winding down. We almost didn’t have a game yesterday. Well, let me explain. We are forced to have at least 6 players in order to play, accordingly to the league rules. Apparently Tyler thought we didn’t have a game after all, so I had to run up to Smith Hall and grab him so we could play. We didn’t play a team that was great, they were only decent. After a while, Nate showed up and we had 7. We played down a player for the rest of the game. We lost 1-4, but it was a fun game. I felt like I played a hard game and I had a good time.

We only have 2 more games. Next week and the week after Spring Break. I have a lot of school work to get done this week and next, so I will be busy and probably won’t have time to post again for at least 2 weeks. I will try to keep a log of my trip to Egypt and Spain and maybe post it after I get home. I have a bunch of papers and homework to finish before leaving for Egypt. I will be returning to the USA on March 28th, so please keep my travels in mind. I hope everyone has a great Spring break, and for those already on it, I hope you are enjoying it.

Sunday Ease

Blogged in Friends, College, My Life on Sunday March 6, 2005

Today, we felt it was such a nice day, we went to the park. I was kind of just lounging around at Laura’s mod anyway, we decided to make it a friends get together. We just grabbed some beach stuff, changed into shorts and sandals, and took off. We went to grab some Cold Stone ice cream first for a tasty snack.

I also brought my soccer ball because I wanted to get a little practice in. We layed down for a bit and then I got up to kick the ball around. 4 of us went. Katie, myself, Laura, and Jessie. Laura, myself, and Katie kicked the ball around for a little bit. After relaxing a little bit more, Laura and I did some of our Literature homework, so it was good to get something done.

After finishing at the park, we came back. And well, here I am. Laura and I are going to dinner later today for our 4 month monthiversary, so I’m excited for that. Not much else going on in my life, except for oh wait, yeah there. Coming up next weekend, APU has Night of Campions. This will be my second NOC and I’m very excited for it. We are going to setup on Friday and run the show on Saturday. It’s a lot of work for setting up and taking down, so a lot of work hours for me. We had the Miss Azusa Pagaent yesterday that I ran sound for, that was partially fun. Not much else now hehe. Just back to school tomorrow.

Firefox Takeover

Blogged in News on Sunday March 6, 2005

Recently, it was brought to my attention by my girlfriend about this article on MSNBC.com:

For most companies, 87.3 percent of a global market might seem just fine. But most companies are not Bill Gates’ Microsoft. Founded by Earth’s richest man, the firm still stands astride the world when it comes to browser usage; but the might of its Internet Explorer is just a little diminished. On Monday, two reports were released — one American and one Continental — that show IE’s share of the browser market dropping below 90 percent.

The culprit? Last year, Mozilla Foundation launched Firefox version 1.0, an open source browser lauded as both faster and more secure against popups and other irritations of online life. Last month (more…)
