Adobe Takes Over (Marcodobe)
In the recent news, Adobe has announced the purchase of Macromedia for $3.4billion. These software powerhouses are now one company which will dominate the software industry for graphics and video production. Flash is now under Adobe which is going to make for quitea change in style of a lot of the internet. This buy-out shocks me, but isn’t really surprise. I’m happy for Adobe that they are finally taking a step towards being the bigger company.

Yeah, tell me about it. Adobe is going to be one heck of a powerhouse now, even AFTER spending that $3.4 billion. I’m sure they have plenty left to invest into Macromedia.
I’m thinking that they will keep the Macromedia name, but just keep the owner as Adobe instead. Macromedia has already built up a reputation and Adobe wouldn’t want to lose that just because they bought them out.

They did it because they were worried about Microsoft buying Macromedia! That’s not a good business decision, and given Adobe’s mediocre memory management, I think this bodes badly for the future of Flash.

That’s an interesting thought. I do agree, that Adobe has failed at good memory management, but maybe with the new source code from Macromedia they can become better at it now.
I personally think they should stay as two companies and continue to operate as such, just because they are great companies as independent, but I’m not sure what they will do now.
