Northern California Trip

Blogged in Travel on Tuesday May 31, 2005

To add on to the post below, I have recently updated my pictures and added a new album directory of Concerts to include all the concerts I go to. I had a wonderful trip to Northern California. Its not as bad as people say it is, what a blessing to know the state isnt a complete mess :P

To start it off, I will talk about the drive up.

4:00am: Leave Thousand Oaks
6:30am: I take over driving
7:30am: Dad takes over driving
11:00am: Arrive in San Francisco
11:30am: Get lunch at Max’s
12:15pm: Arrive at Giants stadium

That was our first day getting there, it was a long drive but a good drive. We later then went to our hotel and had dinner at a seadfood restaurant called Scottlands (I believe). It was good, I had a seafood pasta dish. We went back to the hotel to get some rest.

Sunday came and we started out early. We drove to Sacramento and then went to Bayside Church. I was able to pickup two tickets through my dad for the concert on Monday night. After church, we went back and checked into our new hotel since we switched cities. Right after checking in, I drove up to Yuba City to see Kate and Katie. It was such a blast to see them, it had been too long. Even though it was a short stay, I was able to talk with Kate for a while and hang out with Katie for a little bit. We saw a Memorial Service play at their church and it was good. I wish I could have stayed longer to hang out with Kate or Katie, but that’s okay, it happens.

Come Monday, I woke up later because I was doing the driving home. My dad had an interview so I sat in for that (the first time I had done so). It was very interesting seeing the interviewing process. After the interview we started the trek for some dinner. We ate at Dapheny’s Greek place and then went to Bayside Church.

Ok, two words, SIMPLY AMAZING. I was given the opportunity to see no other than Third Day! Third Day was simple amazing. My opinion is that they have reached and matched the live concert quality of Switchfoot, another band I LOVE to see in concert. You can see the pictures I took at the concert here. They were amazing. God did some great things there. The concert was put on by Bayside Church and World Vision.

Trip Home…
9:00pm: Dad starts driving
10:15pm: I take over driving
3:00am: Arrive home

San Francisco

Blogged in My Life, Geek, Travel on Saturday May 28, 2005

I’m up in San Francisco and Oakland right now with my dad. We went to a Giant’s game today vs. the Padres and the Padres won. Too bad because that still puts the Padres into first place. We are going to church in Sacramento tomorrow at a church called Bayside and then I’m driving up to Yuba City to see some friends from APU, so it should be a good weekend!!

On a side note, I recently purchased some more domains that I will soon be releasing as a list of domains I am selling. I’m into the domain business now if you didn’t know, so I purchase a lot of domains in hope that one day someone will buy them. I have a current sale pending, so hopefully this will take off for me. I just purchased 4 more tonight which comes to a total of 18 domains. More news to come on this once I get them all setup.

Power Outage

Blogged in My Life on Wednesday May 25, 2005

Last night, around 7:20pm, the power goes out. No warning from the power company, no nothing, the power just goes out. Well, I have a backup battery for my desktop, so I thought the power would go back on, but it didn’t. So the power to my computer finally got cut, but that was just the start of it!

The power didn’t get restored until 11:30pm last night. It was off for about 4 hours. My sister and I were in the middle of a Mario Karty on N64 game and the power zipped out, we were annoyed. We started setting up candles and flashlights. After doing that, we started playing some cards and then ordered pizza, it was fun :) But not too long after playing cards, we realized the house was quiet. Usually there are little kids running around, aka our cats, and it was all too quiet. Sure enough, we look at the back door, and it’s open. Our cat Olivia had opened the door because she’s such a smart kitty. She knows how to open the screen with her claws and let everyone out. We had to go gather all the cats, well, 3 of the 4, and finished that in about 10 minutes.

We came back and then only to still have no power (this is at around 10:30pm). My sister finally went to bed and I stayed up for a little bit talking to Laura V. and it was good. Finally, about the time I getting ready to go to bed, the power came back on and I stayed up until 2:30am playing Starcraft because I finally got it working. And yes, Starcraft is one of the best old school games out there! Well, that’s what my day was like yesterday, all was good :)

KHTML for Windows

Blogged in Geek on Monday May 23, 2005

In recent web development projects, I’ve come to notice there are no KHTML browsers suitable for Windows. I’ve done much research to try to find one that works under Windows (XP/98/2000) or any of the sort, but have been unable to find one. I’ve tried KDE based Cygwin projects and looked at the KHTML Win32 project that seems to be dead now too.

I’ve tried to get Konqueror for windows or even just a port of it, but have had no such luck. If anyone has seen a port of a KHTML browser for windows, I would surely be happy to hear of it and see one.

Tech Baton

Blogged in Geek on Thursday May 19, 2005

Well, you know what goes on in my music life, so I thought I would give an insight to my tech life as well.

What was the the last ‘tech’ item you bought?
Some JBL Speakers that I love, they are awesome!

What’s the last online purchase you made and from where?
I can’t be sure if it was the DLO iPod charger + fm transmitter or the JBL speakers, so either newegg.com or ebay.com

Are you going to e3? Do you know what e3 is?
Oh man, I wish I was going, that would be awesome! Yeah, e3 is the ‘electronic entertainment expo‘.

What’s your favorite video game?
Well, since I don’t really play games anymore…that’s a tough one. I would have to say Halo on xbox or pc, but I’m really just waiting for xbox 360 to come out, that is going to be awesome as well. It comes out in November this year, I’m excited.

Who are you passing this on to?

Gallery 2 - Beta 3 (Bingo!)

Blogged in Geek, Photos on Wednesday May 18, 2005

Recently, Gallery released another version of it’s software that I run. They released this beta with many new features that I love. A lot of custom administration work and a lot of backend coding for the main gallery itself. They have really outdone themselves this time and it’s still only in its beta stages!

They have been developing this software for the past 4 years and it has finally begun to come out into production. This is a time a lot of us in the digital photography world has been waiting for. I eagerly await the next beta as I’m sure more great features will keep being added to it. Congradulations and good job!

Between 19 and 20

Blogged in My Life on Sunday May 15, 2005

Well, my birthday is coming up soon, so I’m pretty excited. I’m not exactly sure what I will be doing for my birthday. I’ll probably end up doing what I’ve done for the past years and just hang out at my house by myself, but we’ll see. I usually don’t do a whole lot or get anything for my birthday really. I’ll just be turning 20, so I will be breaking the teenager mark now.
19 to 20
I have a bunch of stuff that I’ve already wanted to get, like
new speakers, an iPod holder for my car, and the new Shaun Groves CD, but I’m looking to buy a new monitor because my current one is breaking and a sound system for my car this summer. I’m looking forward to this summer and hopefully going to get a job this summer, but we’ll see how that turns out.

Update: I thought of a couple small things that I did want for my birthday, so I want to get the Napoleon Dynamite DVD (widescreen of course), The Boondock Saints (widescreen), Star Wars - Episode I (widescreen), but I really really want to do get the Star Wars Trilogy (Widescreen Edition). Oh, lastly, another update, I want the Photoshop CS - Down and Dirty Tricks book, because I love photoshop and I need to get that book at some point. If you want to get it for me, just ask for my address.
