GreenZap Released Almost Final

Blogged in Geek on Wednesday June 15, 2005

GreenZap has been making their rounds with launching and as they haven’t fully launched everything yet, they are still in process. It looks more promising everyday that they exist and as they continue to build their reputation as a financial money transaction company.

Keep an eye out in the news for GreenZap coming forth as the next Paypal.

Interesting. It’s a semi-pyramid system, with the ‘webcash’ being online-only funny money (though it can cover any ‘transaction fees’).

Aside from the pyramid growth, I’m not sure what it offers over paypal. Slightly higher monthly caps for a ‘personal’ account (500 vs 1000), but paypal doesn’t have transaction fees until you go premium/biz. I guess if you are doing thousands in transactions per month, they might beat paypal, but if you are trying to solicit donations via the web, the $1 per transaction will nuke small stuff…

Yeah, it’s quite an interesting setup they have. They give away a lot of money at the beginning, like Paypapl did, but then charge the $1/$2 per transaction fee. I don’t think it will take off for the average ebayer simply because Paypal is free for transactions and Greenzap will cost extra that the user doesn’t want to pay.

On a larger scale, yes, Greenzap will make out better for the large paying customers that spend the thousands online. It will be interesting to see how this all turns out.
