Peter Jennings, ABC News Anchor, Dies at 67 - New York Times

The tragic death of Peter Jennings actually almost brought me to tears. I’ve grown up listening to Peter Jennings on the TV and he was just part of my life. It’s very sad to see him die at such a young age, but with the lung cancer, there’s not much you can do.

Mr. Jennings’s official ABC biography notes, for example, that as a foreign correspondent, he was “in Berlin in the 1960’s when the Berlin Wall was going up,” and there again, as an anchor, “in the 1990’s when it came down.” Similarly, he was on the ground in Gdansk, Poland, for the birth of the Solidarity labor and political movement, and later for the overthrow of the country’s Communist government.

This guy has been around for a long time and he made an impact on a lot of the world as a journalist of the world. He has travelled around the world and seen almost everything, bringing it back to us. He will be missed greatly.
