Dodgers Strike Back!

Blogged in My Life, News, Sports on Friday May 13, 2005

Tonight was a very eventful evening. I was able to spend the evening with my father and two friends. TR and Randy were able to join us for the game tonight, very delightful company.Dodger Stadium 05-13-05

As the game was progressing, we [Dodgers] finally started scoring in the third inning against the Atlanta Braves. We pulled up with a 2-0 winning score going into the 8th inning. One batter comes up for the Braves, gets a single; think nothing of it? Wrong. Another batter and another, soon enough the Braves have bases loaded and 2 outs. The next thing we know, a home run is hit with bases loaded so that brings the score to 2-4 in favor of the Braves. After a few pitcher changes and talks from the manager, the Dodgers are able to pull out of the inning with the score 2-4. Next the Dodgers are up to bat. We swing at a couple and get some men on bases. Before long, we have the bases loaded as well. Milton Bradley got up to bat. With a full count, he also swings for a home run and gets it! We too got a grand slam in the bottom of the 8th inning. That’s right, two grand slams in the same inning, one by each team. This wasn’t it though for the 8th inning. With 3 more batters that came up, we ended up scoring again to make the score 7-4 in favor of the Dodgers.

With the game finally coming to an end, we won the game 7-4. It was quite an amazing game and I am very glad I was able to attend. It was a good evening.

Soccer Winding Down

Blogged in General, My Life, Travel, Sports on Wednesday March 9, 2005

Hey Folks. It seems like soccer is winding down. We almost didn’t have a game yesterday. Well, let me explain. We are forced to have at least 6 players in order to play, accordingly to the league rules. Apparently Tyler thought we didn’t have a game after all, so I had to run up to Smith Hall and grab him so we could play. We didn’t play a team that was great, they were only decent. After a while, Nate showed up and we had 7. We played down a player for the rest of the game. We lost 1-4, but it was a fun game. I felt like I played a hard game and I had a good time.

We only have 2 more games. Next week and the week after Spring Break. I have a lot of school work to get done this week and next, so I will be busy and probably won’t have time to post again for at least 2 weeks. I will try to keep a log of my trip to Egypt and Spain and maybe post it after I get home. I have a bunch of papers and homework to finish before leaving for Egypt. I will be returning to the USA on March 28th, so please keep my travels in mind. I hope everyone has a great Spring break, and for those already on it, I hope you are enjoying it.

Soccer: Game 4

Blogged in My Life, Sports on Wednesday March 2, 2005

We had another soccer game yesterday. We lost again, 0-4, against a moderately good team. I knew some of the people on their team. They weren’t anything great, but they had some skilled players. They were kind of jerks about some of the calls, but that happens. It was a fun game though. I feel like I played hard and had a great time.

And well, today we didn’t have school. Today was CDL (Common Day of Learning) here at APU. My girlfriend and I just kind of lounged around today. We went to Sports Chalet and Office Depot to pick up some things, but mostly it was a day of rest. It was much needed with so much going on.

Also, regarding my passport, that kind of got messed up too. I have to fill out a couple more things before it’s ready to get shipped off again and then processed. I need to have it by March 20th so that I can go to Egypt and Spain with my dad. We’re still wondering where it could have gone…but oh well, that’s life.

Soccer and other updates

Blogged in College, My Life, Sports on Wednesday February 23, 2005

Another soccer report….well, sort of. This week we had a bye for soccer…and it was raining. We wouldn’t have played anyway, even if we had a game, so it was good we didn’t. Bummer for the rest of the teams though. This week has been really rainy overall and a lot of other things going on.

Another school update is that Spring Thing is happening next weekend, so people are excited about it. They recently dropped the price to the dance to $40. I think people will have fun going to it.

Umm I don’t think there are any other updates. Oh wait, chapel was umm interesting thing morning. They just let us go, as their ‘Creative Arts’ chapel. Classes are going well and I like them. That’s about it I guess…not much else going on in my life. Well, I guess there is one more great thing. I love hanging out with my girlfriend and spending quality time with her. We’ve only been together a little over 3 months, but it’s been a growing and stretching 3 months for me at least. It’s been good and I look forward to hopefully spending more time with her. God truly never stops working in amazing ways with each person’s life.

Soccer: Game 3

Blogged in Sports on Wednesday February 16, 2005

We had another soccer game yesterday, at 8pm. It was a fun game. Their team was at the same level of playing as we were. And well, this clearly was shown in the game. We both scored one goal. I scored our one goal on an indirect kick that was caused by a hand-ball. I felt like we had a good time and it was fun playing out there. Good job team Dark Wing Ducks! (That’s our name, just fyi)

Soccer: Game 2

Blogged in Sports on Wednesday February 9, 2005

Intramural soccer game number 2 was yesterday. We lost again, probably something like 1-6. We played a fanatastic team. A very integrity-based team that had passion and strength. They were very Christian-like and had a lot of fun with us. I think the game yesterday will be the best game we have only because they were so focused on Christ while playing. I also had a lot fun. I didn’t think I would have as much fun playing this season only because I didn’t think it was going to be competitive, but the teams we are playing are very competitive.

I am having a good time. My team isn’t the best, but I think we’ll still have a good team. We are a Tuesday team. I will try to post the game time incase you would like to come. The games are on Adams’ field. Overall, the game two experience was very good.

Superbowl XXXIX

Blogged in Sports on Sunday February 6, 2005

Howdy folks. Well, not too long ago, the Patriots played the Eagles in Superbowl XXXIX (39). It was a good game and the company as equally enjoyable. The hype about the game was going around the campus quite a bit yesterday and today. Even though it’s a weekend, there were still quite a few people talking about it.

The game started out by a young boy tossing the coin. Although it wasn’t really a toss because it didn’t even flip, so that kind of mad me made. It felt like they rigged the beginning of it. After the ‘toss’, the Eagles won it and decided to receive the first half. The game started and the quarter was scoreless. After the first quarter, they moved into the second quarter and finally put some points on the board. Moving into the third quarter with the score 7-7, the teams became a little more agressive.

Please keep in mind that throughout this whole game, fumbles and interceptions are quite common. Each team had a number or each, if I recall correctly. Towards the end of the third, the score was bumped up to 24-14 in favor of the Patriots. Moving into the fourth, the Eagles scored another touchdown and made the score 24-21 which only about 2 minutes left. Right at the end, with about 9 seconds left, the Eagles through yet another interception and lost the game.

Both teams fought hard and I believe it was a very good game. In recap, the Patriots came out on top again for the fourth time this decade. I was rooting for the Patriots from the start and they came out vistorious. Good job Patriots!

Soccer: Game 1

Blogged in Sports on Wednesday February 2, 2005

I have joined a soccer *intramural team for Azusa Pacific University this year. We didn’t form a team of people we knew, but of a group of random people. I am expecting for us not to be the best team ever, but we put forth the effort and tried. We will be playing every Tuesday, times varying from 6pm to 10pm.

This past game was a doozy. We lost … something like 0-4 I think. We played a team that was made up primarily of juniors and seniors. It was a fun game, but tough for me because I’m used to playing at a competitive level. This will help get me back in the groove of soccer, one of my passions, and help me get back in shape as well. Since starting with this team, it had been 2 years since I had played. It’s good to be back into it now.
